My name is Tom Bird, and I am a Brighton based designer with a love of all things design. With 5 years of industry experience, I have gained valuable knowledge in both digital and print design derived from working in studio, in-house and freelance environments whilst collaborating with copywriters, developers and fellow designers alike.
My true passion lies with UX and digital design. I thrive off the challenge of problem solving and creating innovative solutions to ensure a user's experience is as streamlined and enjoyable as possible. Whether this is a responsive website, mobile app or simply a standalone digital asset, I find the whole process – from researching and prototyping to implementing the visual design a valuable learning experience with each new project.
2012 - Graduated with 2:1 in Graphic Design
This was the year I was released into the world of design after completing my design course at Southampton Solent University
2013 - Began freelancing
With the valuable experience gained from interning, I was confident enough to go out and freelance. I began taking on small jobs to build up my portfolio and help with getting my foot in the door of my first job
2015 - Graphic Designer -
INTO University Partnerships
My next step was to be into the corporate world and designing with an in house design team for a multi national education company producing print materials for prestigious universities in the UK, USA and China.
2013 - Digital designer - ISA Media
My first full time job in the industry. I worked in conjunction with the development team to produce bespoke digital solutions such as HTML5 brochures, IOS apps, responsive websites and everything in between. This was the perfect stepping stone for me as I learnt an incredible amount and was exposed to new skills such as HTML5 and CSS.
now with a wealth of experience in varying disciplines, I am looking to make the next step in my career and broaden my skill set as much as possible and potentially integrate into an in house design team for a large established brand.
2012 - Internship at Pleece & Co
After finding my feet and grasping the fundementals of my new found trade, I got in contact with local agencies and secured a voluntary intern position alongside a part time job, working with clients such as Sussex Cricket Club and Westminster College
